Regatta Information

You'll find the 2012 Regatta Schedule here as well as everything you need to know about the regatta experience. Not all regattas are attended by all paddlers and your coach can tell you more.

Directions to Regatta Courses

During the paddling season, regattas and/or training camps are held at various canoe clubs and paddling courses (including the Humber River boat launch). To help you find the way there, maps and directions are available here.

Out of Town Regattas

Each summer, the Club reserves blocks of rooms at hotels near the course for out-of-town regattas, at favourable rates.

Regatta Results

This is the place to look for the results of the most recent regatta or team trial. Information will be posted as soon as it is available.

Volunteering

Volunteers are the life's blood to our organization. Without your help, the Club cannot function. It is through your volunteer time that the regattas can take place and the money that helps pay for our coaching and equipment gets raised.

Corporate Sponsorship and Events

The Balmy Beach Club is a not-for-profit organization and, as such, needs to raise funds to be able to offer affordable programs to people of all ages, including those with disabilities.

Cold Water Training

In the spring and fall, the water in Lake Ontario can be very cold. To ensure the safety of all our members, strict rules govern on water training during those seasons

Club Safety

Safety issues can never be ignored in our sport. Because most of our training is done on Lake Ontario waters, the cold water temperatures present a hazard. Safety can't be taken for granted.

Caring for Boats

The Club has a wide range of canoes and kayaks and associated equipment to meet the needs and abilities of all the participants. Please treat with care. A boat in good condition is a pleasure to use.

What to wear

On water practices and regattas are held during all types of weather with some more advanced groups on the water from early spring to late fall. It is essential that you or your child be prepared.

Managing a capsized boat

Remember…. Those who tell you they have never fallen in are lying. It is a part of learning and improving. All involved, from paddlers to cox to motor boat drivers must be aware of, and comfortable with, the proper way to handle such a situation.
