Learn to Paddle

Ages 18+
June 1 - 21, 2026
July/August coming soon

Learn to Paddle is the entry point for adults who are new to sprint canoe and kayak, or who have recreational paddling experience but have not paddled in race boats. The program provides a structured and supportive introduction to paddling fundamentals, equipment, and on-water safety, with the goal of building confidence and comfort on the water.

June Intake (Now Open)

The June Learn to Paddle package runs over three weeks, with three sessions per week, for a total of nine sessions. Participants train alongside experienced coaches and are gradually introduced to the Masters training environment throughout the program.

Completion of Learn to Paddle is required before joining the Masters Program for athletes who are new to paddling. If a participant completes Learn to Paddle and chooses to move into Masters, the Learn to Paddle fee is deducted from their Masters full summer registration.

A second Learn to Paddle package will be offered later in the summer, running through July and August. Registration for this intake will open at a later date.

Throughout the season, Masters athletes have the option to participate in local regattas across Ontario, with the summer season culminating in the CanMas Masters National Championships in late August. During the off-season, training includes a mix of swimming, aerobic conditioning, and strength training to support year-round fitness and skill development.
