Looking for a great way to spend your summer while developing valuable leadership and teamwork skills? Consider joining our Counsellor-In-Training (CIT) program at BBCC Summer Sports Camp! Our program offers volunteer opportunities for youth between the ages of 14-17, where participants work alongside our experienced staff to engage campers, act as a positive role model by following camp rules and participating in activities, and help run various sports and games.
As a CIT, you'll have the chance to develop your leadership skills, gain valuable experience working with children, and have a blast participating in a wide variety of fun and active games and sports, including soccer, paddling, capture-the-flag, and swimming. To participate in our CIT program, all you need is enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and grow!
To join our CIT Program, please visit our registration page at the link above. In addition to registering, you are required to submit your resume to Laura Pett at sportscamp@balmybeachcanoeclub.com. Please note that registrations are on a first come first serve basis.
Meet Laura Pett
Sports Camp Director
Hello! My name is Laura, and I am beyond excited to be the Camp Director for the summer of 2024! This is my 3rd year at Balmy Beach as a camp counsellor, and 8th year being a counsellor in general. I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Education with an Honours in Psychology. As Camp Director, my main goals are to create a safe, fun, and enriching experience for campers. Ensuring that we provide opportunities for campers to learn new sports skills, improve existing ones, and develop teamwork and sportsmanship. Our camp strives to create an inclusive environment where all campers feel welcome and valued.
During the summer, you’ll often find me on the volleyball courts playing with friends or working at the Ashbridge’s Bay Adult Volleyball League. But come winter, my playground shifts to the mountains of British Columbia, where I ride my snowboard from sunrise to sunset! Working at Balmy Beach for the past two summers has been the best experience, from meeting lifelong friends to all the great campers! I am so grateful to be doing another year at this amazing camp! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the email sportscamp@balmybeachcanoeclub.com
