The Balmy Beach Canoe Club’s 2025 Annual General Meeting, an essential opportunity for members to have a say in the future direction of the club, will take place on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at 7 pm. This important event will include reports from the Commodore and Treasurer, approval of last year’s minutes, and the election of officers to the Executive Board. Positions up for election this year include Commodore, Rear Commodore, and 2nd Vice Commodore. All club members 16 years and older, in good standing as of August 31, 2025, are eligible to vote. The Executive Board of the Balmy Beach Canoe Club is made up of volunteers comprised of parents of paddlers and adult paddlers over the age of 18. There are six elected positions on the Executive Board. Each of these positions has an area of responsibility in the running of our Club.


The following positions are up for election this year, per Article 6 of the Constitution:

  • Commodore

  • Rear Commodore

  • 2nd Vice Commodore


The following positions are entering the second year of their two-year term and therefore are not up for election this year:

  • 1st Vice Commodore – Erin Stein

  • Treasurer – Gaynor Reader

  • Secretary – Rachel Jewell


Elections will take place at this Annual General Meeting. Any member of the Balmy Beach Club, 16 years of age and over, in good standing as of August 31, 2025 shall have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting.


In addition to the elected Board, there are also Director Positions which are appointed by the Executive. These positions are voting members of the Executive and include positions such as Marketing & Communications, and Volunteer Coordinator. Once the new Board is in place, any open Directors positions will be appointed. Any of these positions provide the opportunity to have a substantive role in the running of our club. Please consider whether you would like to contribute as either an elected Board Member or a Director. If you feel that another individual would be effective in one of these roles, please approach them with this suggestion.


Nominations for either an elected position or a directorship can be made by contacting a member of the Nominating Committee. This year’s nominating committee members are, Erin Stein erinmariestein@gmail.com and Rachel Jewell secretary@balmybeachcanoeclub.com.


This year’s AGM will take place virtually on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 7pm. We encourage your participation.
