Volunteering
Balmy Beach athletes compete at numerous regattas throughout the season. All of the people who work so hard at these events are volunteers - parents like you. If these good people did not step forward to offer to drive safety boats, keep score, monitor the start and finish lines and cook the burgers, these events could not take place. Since you are already at the course, it makes sense to give a couple of hours of your time. The families of our athletes will be contacted from time to time throughout the year and opportunities to sign up for various events will be offered at registration days.
The Club is a non-profit organization whose expenses are considerably higher than Club registration fees. Fundraising activities are required to maintain operations and to provide professionally coached programs and up-to-date competitive equipment. In order for the success of the Club to continue, involvement by parents and paddlers is essential and is a condition of membership. Commitment to assist and participate in a fundraising event will be requested from each paddler family. Each member/family is expected to donate ten (10) volunteer hours to club activities throughout the year .
Social/fundraising events take place throughout the year starting with the Hair of the Dog Run on January 1; Golf Classic in June; Rib Night in July; a CKC send-off in August when our 50/50 draw is awarded and our big Awards Night in October. We welcome new ideas for other events. Watch this website for up-to-date information on Club happenings and ensure your e-mail address is included on your registration form so that you receive notices of importance concerning such things as schedule changes, regatta information andvolunteer opportunities (the 2013 list of opportunities will be available in the spring).
